Every Football lover in India has one common question in his/her mind: "whats holding back Indian Football?"
Well you can find the answer for this question in the BBC report by Mike Geddes.
Blog that describes everything related to Football in Gujarat, India. Latest news about the Indian National team. All reviews and comments are most welcomed.
Though its an old report, it still holds the answer to the question that many people in India still reckons.
ReplyDeleteIt is often said and is a fact well known that INDIA is ruled by two passions CRICKET and BOLLYWOOD. And lately the the people from the big screen are adding to the rising popularity of cricket by participating in making cricket a business, and we are loving it. This people have hit the right note by commercializing something which is next to religion in INDIA. It gives me immense pleasure to see the sport grow, but arent this people equally responsible for improving the ever deploring condition of INDIAN FOOTBALL.
ReplyDeleteI(PAVEL), ARKO, NIMESH, YUDHVIR (we all played for BUFC), after our sunday game used to sit on the IPCL football ground and discuss about champions league, EPL and performance of european players in the weekly matches that took place. We used to discuss our game in detail, where we lacked and what the hell should we do about DEFENCE....
Amidst those discussions, i came to terms about one very big fact, that we INDIANS follow the sport and not the winners. This proves that we love the game and not just the glitter and glamour attached to it.
Country is calling for all round development, and i dont think sports is at all part of this development programme and football is no way part of it. Cant the government, or a matter of fact the AIFF do any thing about it. 500rs crore was the budget set aside for sports where is it?...
Politicians talk about lack of talent, HELLO..I have played with some of the best the country can produce. BUT alas lack of exposure..Dreams reamin dream for this talented people...We dont have football grounds...nd we complain about talent...where is the infrastructure..even the national football team is not provided with a decent dressing room...
I am really happy that Gujarat state football association is working for the development for the sport...but the condition wont change unless the players are made to beleive that football is more than a sport it is a profession with amazing future..we call it WORLD GAME for nothing....dont forget that more than 70% of the worlds populatuon tune in there tv sets daily to watch this GAME which is heading nowhere in INDIA...
Baroda has got fine players who can be flag bearers of hope for this game...cant there be more tournaments in a year..more training programmes for budding young footballers..better coaches be arranged...kick off a full proof baroda premeir league...
I know i am acting as a voice for those who are not blogging but want to express there delight through this blog... when they hear about the saxena or baroda league but get equally depressed and heart broken when beacause of a cricket match in anticipation of more money, the entire football gorund is stabbed with poles..i remember companies used to have sunday time out with ther families and after njoing themselves used to leave the gorund, flooding it with plastic bags, half-eaten left overs, napkins...nobody even tried to remove it from the ground...i remember some of us who used to be regular sunday nd evening players, took up this task of cleaning the ground...
such is the condition of indian football that, if u ask a football enthusiast about european teams, he will rattle of the names...interrogate him about the national football team..he might probably say INDIA has a football team?..
Arko went to the nehru stadium to witness the nehru cup finals..he was overhelmed with joy by seeing the response. The stadium was overflowing with people, showing that people want to enjoy the sport..but give them a reason to come to stadiums...plz dont let football die...WE HAVE A WORLD CUP TO WIN..........
PAVEL...(pavel.beckham@gmail.com)...
OH Man...Thats awesome Pavel...Thank you very much for your review and participation...!!!
ReplyDeleteWell said...currently I am in UK and the current state of Football in UK is the product of proper infrastructure and facilities provided by local governing bodies to young kids and youth. You won't believe it but they have like 5-10 tournaments in each region of the country.
As I am in UK I there are people from all over the world staying here and I said "I play Football and I am from India" and they were like "Do you guys have an Indian National team for Football...!!!???"
I was really surprised and I got to accept the fact that people hardly know about the existence of Indian Football team.
You must have gone through that BBC report. It says everything. People say "lack of talent" in India, I'll say "Go to Hell". It doesn't make sense. I'll say its lack of administration. The Football Committee has to make some firm changes and decisions for the sake of Football.
We are nowhere near to qualify for the World Cup for at least next 10-15 years. This thing will take time.
Football will never die in India.
